 everything just seems to click

WiiWare-World.com

There's nothing quite like a simple design where everything just seems to click. That's an apt description of the gameplay found in World of Goo…The visuals in World of Goo often look like they just stepped out of a Dr. Seuss book… As amazing as the visuals in World of Goo are, it would be a shame not to mention the outstanding musical score and realistic sound effects that go along with it…It's quite amazing that a development team consisting of basically three people has somehow managed to create such a unique and utterly charming gaming experience like the one found in World of Goo…In an era of where style is often emphasized over substance, it's refreshing to see a title like World of Goo that somehow manages to feature an abundance of both.

World of Goo will never let anyone down looking for a fun, challenging time

Examiner.com

The award-winning World of Goo is immediately attractive as soon as it starts up, with some vibrant graphics and a easy to digest presentation that's always charming and funny. This looks and feels like an old-school Saturday morning cartoon brought to life…incredible physics allow so many different structures, like bridges, ladders, and pyramids. And therein lies the beauty of this game: the only limits to this game are a gamer's imagination…With nearly 40 levels and downloadable content in the future, World of Goo will never let anyone down looking for a fun, challenging time.

This is a gamer's game and a game that should be played by non-gamers

How is it that Goo can contain more charisma, charm, cuteness and let's not forget gooeyness than pretty much any other video game character ever?... The levels themselves exude the same quality as the Goo, they have been made so perfectly and with such an artistic flair it is unbelievable, they seem to have their own personality at times. While the gameplay itself is absolutely outstanding it would be left standing on its own if the art wasn't up to scratch. Rather it is the art that brings this game, for me at least, up above most other games currently on the market…2D Boy have created one of the finest games of the year, I don't care that it is an indie game; it is up there with any and all the hits. This is what gaming is all about, great game design, great character, and great fun. This is a gamer's game and a game that should be played by non-gamers. It is a piece of art and a Goo filled ball of fun

Alternately whimsical, dramatic and haunting

Eurogamer.net

It's beautiful, isn't it? Everything. From the beautiful levels, which go way beyond the basic graphical expectations of "looking nice", to the charming-alarming cut-scenes, to the beautiful characterisation of those adorable goo balls. World of Goo isn't just beautiful. The world, and its surreal anti-establishment storyline, feel original and sincere. It's Tim Burton's vision of one of Roald Dahl's more amoral tales.
